HUD has published the FY 2026 Income Limits for the Public Housing and Section 8 programs (Notice PDR-2026-02, issued May 1, 2026). These limits establish the Extremely Low-, Very Low-, and Low-Income thresholds by area and household size and are effective May 1, 2026.
Important timing reminder: Please keep in mind RHIIP Listserv #293 – Timing of Income Eligibility Determinations – Clarification to Existing Policy (12/19/2012). RHIIP guidance states that if a unit becomes available and an applicant is selected from the waiting list, is processed for eligibility, and meets all eligibility requirements at the time of processing, the applicant is eligible to move in to the project even if new income limits have been published.
